The lessons
- What generative AI is, and your first successful exchange
- What AI does badly: made-up facts, dates, calculations, overconfidence
- Your data: what is sent, what stays, the settings
- Chat, give files, delegate, let it act: 4 levels of use
- Free or paid: reading a plan and planning your budget
Benefit
Know what an AI does, and does not do, before you trust it with anything. No prior knowledge is required: not ChatGPT, not Claude, nothing else.
By the end, you will be able to
- explain in your own words what a language model and a chatbot are;
- tell apart 4 ways of using AI: chatting, giving files, handing a task to an agent, letting an AI act on the computer;
- spot a made-up answer by questioning the AI on a subject you know well;
- say what is sent to the provider, and set your privacy settings;
- read a pricing page without getting it wrong.
Demonstration
One question asked to a chatbot: a useful answer, then a mistake spotted live on a well-known subject.
Exercise and result
The “my assistant’s ID sheet” (chosen tool, plan, privacy setting, 3 things I never share with it), plus a first verified exchange about a real need from your week.
